i dont have much time but since my last post ive been over to accra and west to the cape coast with julia- went to see elmina (an old slave castle) stayed in hans boatell (between a motel and a horror movie waiting to happen we think- but we got to feed and pet a crocodile so we were happy) then we headed over to kakum national park (we got to walk on wooden bridges 40meters up in the rainforest's canopy) then julia got malaria and so we went back to abor. so then a few days later alex and i went up to hoe (good banana's and met up with some of a friend's friends) then akosombo then we got on a ferry yo go up the volta river (stayed in 2nd class, i treasure flush toilets now- alsogot to climb onto the roof and watch the stars and have a dance party with some locals - one 10yr old girl was tryign to teach me how to dance- slept on the floor only to wake up to gosepel hymes at like 5am) then yegi (a town we had to sleep in- shared a double bed with 3 other friends - two were some aussies we met- and liked how we had a lock on our door but you could just climb in through the open window next to it) then canoed and walked to makosombo cause the lake was too low to boat anymore (abotu 5km - or miles they were not sure) then trotroed over to tamali and west to mole national park (saw some elephants, monkeys, crocodiles, wart hogs etc and got to swim in a pool!) then took a taxi back to tamalie (with 7 people in it and we broke the gas tank- they fixed the hole with a bar of soap go figure- then blew a tire and broke a break pad all within about 30 min). then got in a fight with the taxi driver at theend over $10 but made friends with a military man and ended up sleeping on the floor of his hotel room) and up to bolgatanga and over to serigu (womens art village) and bongo (crazy rocks that you hike up and can play the drums on one) and then back down to tamali and down to wale wale and east to gambaga (one of ghana's 6 witch camps) then back west to wale wale and down to tamali and south west to kumasi (14 hours in a bus with about 30 people jamed in it- at least i didnt have the 200lb lady behind me like the girl we met from montreal!) OH and i forgot to say that pretty much NONE of the roads were paved and so they were nice and dirty/dusty and super bumby and our seats here in teh trotros are like wooden benches... our buts love us. and now kumasi wass where i was when i wrote this- there we (alex, the girl we met from montreal and i) were headed to a crafts show and to wander teh massive market that sells literally anything. two nights ago we went to see a 20 cent movie here that felt like we were in the 50s... but the movie choices were one "hollywood" movie from abotu 10 years ago or about 5 porn options haha oh then our great sense of direction brought us one turn off and down to a dirt road when we were walking back to our hotel... where a little girl told us we were probally going in the wrong direction cause if we kept goign down we would have to watch out for armed robbers... so long story short we got a cab back to out hotel where we walked into our room to find a rat running around...YAY... how i love rats... and so we got another room which instead of rats had a billion mosquitos... back to abor saturday night!! very stoked for some clean clothes and a real shower!! (cold water is perfect at this point) but first last night was another adventure where we found this $8 hotel room but soon foudn out that the bathroom had no water and crap on teh walls, then got back to the room to find cockroaches (wahooo- i am a master cockroach crusher let me just say) and had to cover the bed in our dirty clothes because they smelled better than the stale smelling sheets that were probally there since teh 60s...eww... oh then at 5am the securtiy man woke us up to pay for teh room becuase his boss needed the money for a cab...GREAT.... lets just say we got out asap and found a nice french pastry shop that made everything better! now we're headed to see some things in accra and watch a friend's friend's dance rehersal that apparently rocks (in accra tomorrow afternoon) and then maybe over to a bead factory and then back to abor to pack and say bye to friends/party by the hospital's ER (and statue of jesus- the highlight of the small town). then tuesday im headed back home!! sorry the photos take so long to post that i cant seem toget any up but im hoping to post some soon!
hope lifes going well with you all!!
